I work from my home in the Stroud area, Gloucestershire. My work is mainly one to one, with adult individuals, over the age of 18.
If you have come to read my profile, you’re already on your way to making some changes, which will hopefully enrich your life and relationships. It takes courage to make the decision to talk to someone about yourself and your difficulties and so I aim to work respectfully and professionally at all times, within the BACP ethical framework, doing my best to create a trustworthy and understanding space in which to be together.
I am deeply empathic, open minded and non judgemental. I will do my utmost to help you achieve a sense of self empowerment so that you are able to be in control of your life, and achieve what feels important to you. I am happy to work in an open-ended way or in a focussed time-limited way. I’m here to listen deeply and to try to find a more manageable way to move forward in life.
I am keenly interested in trauma and shame, as I believe these to be at the root of many psychological and even some physical difficulties.
Both trauma and shame can deeply and silently affect the way we feel about ourselves, how we relate to others and how we respond to life in general, resulting in anxiety in our everyday lives, depression, self-sabotaging behaviours, relationship difficulties, physical disabilities, addictions, destructive ways of perceiving ourselves, others, our environment and our place in it.
New research is showing more and more, the connection between brain and body and I am deeply interested in working holistically to explore these connections. If you have physical complaints or behaviours which seem inexplicable, perhaps this could be something we could explore and work on together.
